sensitive midwifery independent midwife network (SM-IMN)

The SM-IMN is an umbrella network of Independent Midwives in South Africa hosted by Sensitive Midwifery, which is the professional midwifery division of the well-known Sister Lilian Centre. It is exclusively open to independent midwives who are actively involved with attending births (whether just a few or many each year).

Any independent midwife in any province of South Africa is welcome to join. The SM-IMN is however not at this stage open to independent practitioners in the other very important fields of maternity care like antenatal education, breastfeeding counselling, or well-baby clinics. Sensitive Midwifery has plenty of other helpful resources for these practitioners, like the EVERYDAY SENSITIVE MIDWIFE, SENSITIVE MIDWIFE PLUS and SENSITIVE MIDWIFE PREMIUM (Allied Practitioner & Facility Listing option).

seven benefits the SM-IMN offers

These benefits include the SENSITIVE MIDWIFERY PREMIUM membership package, plus a number of other important benefits, including:

  1. Easy access to Sensitive Midwifery’s online resources like a bank of quick links to midwifery-affirming evidence, and tips for tricky midwifery situations
  2. One free regional SM-IMN connect meeting per year in four regions where Sensitive Midwifery Symposium is held
  3. 10% discount on registration fees to Sensitive Midwifery Symposium and any Sensitive Midwifery course on offer
  4. Listing of members’ services on Sister Lilian Centre and Sensitive Midwifery websites and promotion of these in eBaby, the online pregnancy, birth and parenting magazine of the Sister Lilian Centre
  5. Automatic subscription to Sensitive Midwifery Magazine
  6. Your professional conduit via email communication on important developments in midwifery, independent practice, regulation, and education which Sensitive Midwifery becomes aware of through its membership of multiple organisations
